The Institute of Disaster Management and Safety Science in collaboration with association of Disaster Managers without Borders and other CSOs organised a workshop with the theme ‘Building professional Disaster Risk Managers’ held at IDMSS secretariat for networking and collaboration in area of DRR. The workshop provided a golden opportunity to bring together African Disaster Risk Managers under one umbrella for the common good of building a safe and disaster resilience society. This will enable experts to share views and experiences. What emerged was the great need for African Disaster Risk Managers to work more closely together, share information and learn from each other. It was from this that the African Society for Disaster Risk Managers (ASDRM) was born.
